Interim Report Card/Progress Report

Interim Report/Progress Report?? Boy I had totally forgotten or given a thought to the fact that I would be graded for my progress and quality of class work.  Well I didn't do too bad (90%) which I believe if the grading system has not changed is an A.  What has changed is my kids  prospective on the appropriate compensation for good grades.  Upon receiving my grades I, not willing to let a golden opportunity to make some quick cash get away, proudly e-mailed my kids and advised them of my good grade.  I also advised them that I felt I was due a cash reward for my A.  Well, was I in for a surprise!  The old slip and slide went into full gear.  Here I will share with you some examples; My lovely daughter in law immediately informed me that she never got paid for good grades and then congratulated me.  She then e-mailed me at 12:30am and sent me a copy of a twenty and a five dollar bill.  I then told her she was off the hook because of her effort and told her that she didn't get paid for good grades because she played hookey and went to bed late!  My oldest son did not respond so I called him and he said for the record Dad "No Comment".  My youngest daughter said OK Dad (I thought that's my little girl) then proceeded to tell me that she had a pending credit because I had not paid her for some of her As'. and we were even!  I said OK we are even but remember I have more report cards coming.  The next day she e-mailed me and said she would pay me $5.00 per A like I did.  I told her sorry but with inflation and cost of living increases the rate was now $25.00 per A.   She has yet to respond!  My other daughter says she has not received the e-mail, that her IPhone is broken (while talking to me on it), the server is down, her wireless signal is poor and that she has to hang up because the baby is crying.  OK I give up!!  By the way kids did I remind you that Christmas is around the corner?

Back to School after 30+ years

Like many other unemployed people in this country I am desperate to do whatever it takes to find employment.  Employment that is long term, satisfying and well compensated is at the top of the list for most unemployed persons.  When talking about older (45+) unemployed persons the opportunities are not as many.  Since I am included in this group I have decided to re-invent myself professionally.  I have been given the opportunity to do this by Immokalee Technical Institute.  ITECH is a blessing to persons of all walks of life.  Recent high school graduates, current high school students o yes older students such as myself.  Male and females, 16, 19, 26,33, 44 and older students.  Tech knowledge from very little to quite knowledgeable.  Local residents to residents from Naples, Montura and Leheigh Acres to name a few.  The staff guides and assists with financial applications and meeting minimum education requirements.  I am currently enrolled and attending ITECH's Applied Cybersecurity course which is being taught by a very qualified, charismatic and professional instructor.  Join me in my journey, hey, I'll keep you posted.
